PT3 beta: startup time

Postby dbabo » Thu Dec 22, 2011 10:32 pm

is a good minute - HEM2 is about 30 seconds.
The time to update statistics - "link" them to the appropriate player is more then 2 hands.

Am i missing smth obvious ?
thank you

I'm not sure what you mean by this - can you explain, please?

i'm' sorry, let me try to explain better.
when I move to a seat i want, the HUD indicators do not follow - they still represent the previous avatars. when i run HEM it takes about 2 hands before it updates the position of the indicators. It doesn't seemed to be the case with PT3. So it's either a bug or i'm missing smth obvious.

Are you using "sit me here" to manually change seat, or do you have a preferred seat configured where you are always moved to the same seat automatically?
What site do you play at?

i setup a "preferred seat" in PT3. The client (everleaf) does not have an option to select a "pref seat" so i manually do "seat me here" everytime i sit at the table.

Also i just noticed:
PT3beta doesn't store the correct username/password if the PG DB is not avialable during startup of the PT#.
To reproduce.
1. createa new user in PG DB. ( example ptdbuser)
2. startup PG DB.
3. startup PT3 and point it to the PG DB with this new username/password. Let it create a new DB.
4. shutdown PT3.
5. Shutdown PG
6. Startup PT3. It will try to connect to the PG DB and fail. Once it fails you are presented with a dialog window asking to create a DB. The default username is "postrges". there is a flag -" DB already exists". If i click on it tehe username doesn't change to the one used ( in this case ) - ptdbuser.

RE: startup time:
HEM2 take 1/2 a time to startup of the PT3beta time. Same machine, same PG DB they both connect to. i wonder why and how it can be improved. I run 2 core AMD with 2 GB and SATA3 drives. the IO on drives is all right. CPU consumption is ok during the startup. When PT3 is catching up sorting the files to import - both cores show 100% utilization. I don't have db measured in GB, yet still it takes some 30-45 seconds before PT3 identifies the right files. So i'm concern how the PT3 will behave once the sizes reach some meaningful numbers.

If you do not want to use preferred seating you can turn it off in PT3 and the HUD will just show stats at the seat which you join.

PT3 may use PostgreSQL, but it uses different databases than HEM and what we do at start up is not necessarily comparable.
You can change the default PostgreSQL username and password by editing the PokerTracker.cfg file in PokerTracker 3\Data.
