Error: Access Violation

Postby pj94z » Wed Apr 09, 2008 7:22 pm

I have been getting these errors when Importing hands from full tilt poker for the past 6 months. Generally, I try to ignore them...but it's getting worse.

I found a thread here where Pat said to install Patch 21701h and also install a sql driver file. So, I installed this patch and driver file.

I fired up PT and it asked me for reg code. Then, I tried to import and it gave me the same Error: Access Violation.

Also, PT won't start anymore..it says my trial period is up ...fantastic.

So, what can I do to get rid of access violation error ?

Send me an email or a PM with the new product ID along with any product ID's still being used on any other computers.

What is the exact error you are getting? The other issues on the forum were not for Full Tilt.
Are you using Vista?
When do you get the errors exactly? When importing hands??
Please give specifics.

I sent a PM to you Pat...but it's still in OUTBOX ...not sure if u got it ..

I am running win xp. I get this access violation error every once in a while when PT tries to import hands only. Sometimes, I get the error 5 times a day.
Other times, I get it only once a week. I noticed it happens more when I import a large # of hands.

The error msg I'm getting is exactly the same as the user posted in a previous post:

Are you using an Access or PostgreSQL database?

If it's Access, I would recommend converting to PostgreSQL
http://www.pokertracker.com/products/PT ... InstallSQL
or starting a new database, it may be there is an issue with this one.

What version of PostgreSQL are you using? 8.2 or 8.0?

The first thing I would recommend is starting a new PostgreSQL database.

To create a new PostgreSQL db, go to the File > Maintain Database Names window, click the Add button.
Enter a description and in the last field choose "Create new, empty Access database"
Click OK to save.
Now, go to the Utilities > Convert Database window and convert that new Access db to PostgreSQL.
Now go back to the File > Maintain Database Names window, check the "Dflt" box next to this new PostgreSQL database.
NOW CLOSE AND REOPEN PT and you should be ready to import into this new db.
If you are importing observed hands from Party or Full Tilt, make sure you go to that auto-import window, click the Observed Hands tab and select the new PostgreSQL database from the list.

Based on your other forum post you also need to make sure you never try to open more than one instance of PT and import into it. I've never seen those duplicate key errors like that unless someone had 2 instances of PT open and importing at the same time.
