Problems after compacting my database

Postby jharding666 » Sun Nov 09, 2008 7:50 pm

Hi,

I have recently moved to a new PC and ever since I have had troubles compacting my database. It appears to lose my hands! For example, I have just run a compact and it lost all hands dating back to 17th August.

Can you please tell me how I can rectify this issue?

Thanks

It sounds like you are not running PT as administrator like you need to be every time.

Go to the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder. Is there a file called ptrack_backup.mdb there? If so, what is the date/time and size of this file? Now go to the Compatibility Files folder. Is there a ptrack_backup.mdb file there? If so, what is the date/time/size of that file?

No there isn't a file called ptrack_backup.mdb in that folder. A few weeks ago I looked at the compact database settings and no folder was selected as the back up file folder. I created a new folder and have told it to browse to there. The date/time/size of this file is 9th-Nov-08/23:37/128,996KB.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you mean about the compatability files folder. I even searched the computer for "compatibility files" and it didn't return anything.

Thanks

In the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder you need to rename the ptrack.mdb file to ptrack_old.mdb. Then you need to rename the ptrack_backup.mdb file to ptrack.mdb and then move that file from the backup folder to the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder. Then you should see the data again. You must be certain to always run PT as administrator, Vista should prompt you to cancel/allow PT to run every time you try to start it.

Thanks. I have renamed my files and moved the file as instructed. I still didn't have the hands appearing in my database from before my last compact (when I started this thread).

I closed PT and reopened it as administrator from my desktop and now I have no hands showing since the compact, just those before! How can I combine the two?!

Thanks for your help thus far, I really appreciate it! I want to get this sorted before I compact again!

What site are you playing at? You should be able to open the File > Import Hand Histories/Tournament Summaries window and click the Select Files To Import button and point it to the processed hand history file folder and select the files dated since the time you did the compact.

I'm playing on Boss. I just tried importing the hands from my processed hand history files and it wouldn't work, they are all XML files which it doesn't recognise.

Also, I just played a session whilst running PT as administrator and GameTime+ was not picking up the tables despite the hands being imported without problems. Any idea why this is?

Thanks

When click the Select Files To Import button, you need to select "XML" from the files of type list box at the bottom of the window.

GT+ also has to be run as administrator, see here
