ODBC microsoft access driver login failed

Hi there,

When trying to run pa hud whilst playing at full tilt I got this above message, thought it must be linked to a database error in poker tracker (which ive been getting a lot since playing at full tilt, constantly having to repair the database)

Anyway...... i shut it all down, opened poker tracker up, and tried to repair the database, I then got the same message as above, it goes on to say - The microsft jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attenpting to change the same data at the same time.

It then takes me to a log in box, with "admin" as the log in, it then requests a password.

I seem to remember getting this problem a long while ago?

Restart the computer and try the repair again. If you keep getting the errors while importing then your database is probably full in which case you need to see issue #2 in this FAQ for options...

Hi Pat,

Tried turning the pc off as you said, but as soon as I opened up PT I got the same message, clicked ok, then got the log in box without the password, I then clicked cancel and got a pop up box - Database error - "unable to connect to the database" "100- No data was found to satisfy the request"

With regard to my databases being full, ive recently compacted both, could it be to do with shutting tables down on full tilt whilst hands are still playing out? just a thought............

Does it list a DSN name in the title bar or anywhere on the prompt you get. Like PTRACK or PTRACKHH?

In the first message about the microsoft jet database etc -no

But in the log in box it says the data source is PTRACK

Just for more info, after I cancel the the log in box and then get the Database error box as I posted above, if i then try to access my ring game player statistics in PT I get another pop up box "DataWindow error", inside the box it says - "Database transaction information not available" "Call SetTrans or SetTransObject function."

If I then click ok, it takes me into PT, but its "My first poker tracker database" and there are no stats at all.

With PT closed...

1. Go to the Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > ODBC Data Sources window.

2. On the window that opens, click the System DSN tab.

3. Click on the entry PTRACK and click the "Configure..." button.

4. Click the "Repair..." button on the next window.

5. On the next window that pops up, ptrack.mdb should be highlighted but if it's not, select it and click ok.

Hopefully this will work. After it finishes see if you can open PT. Also, check the size of the file ptrack.mdb in the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder and let me know what that is.

Followed the instructions fine, but when I got to step 5 and clicked "ok" when ptrack.mdb was highlighted, I got the original message again - ODBC microsoft access driver login failed - The microsft jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attenpting to change the same data at the same time.

It means the database file is corrupted. Have you been making any backups of your data files? If not, in the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder, is there a file called ptrack_backup.mdb there? If so, rename the ptrack.mdb file to ptrack_bad.mdb and then rename the backup file to ptrack.mdb and see if that will open without an error.

The size of the ptrack.mdb file (which used to be the back up file, which I just changed) is - 2,003,972KB, is this the reason why I keep having to repair the database?

That's great. 2gb is the max file size for an Access database so you will need to either start a new database or convert to PostgreSQL.
