IMPORT PTV2 DATABASE

Postby RealSolrac » Tue May 05, 2009 6:09 pm

I've just recovered an old Poker Tracker V2 database, named ptrack.mdb, obviously. I used to use that database years ago in my old PC. I don't remember how many hands do I have inside, but the file weighs 1,77 GB. That old PC got broken at the same time I started using Poker Tracker 3 and at the same time I made a deep change in my game, so I haven't really missed that database. Now, I have recovered a big part of the info in that PC and I've copied this ptrack.mdb file. And I'd want to create a new database in Poker Tracker 3 with those hands, but I don't know how. Furthermore, I've tried to open this database with Poker Tracker V2 in my current laptop, but no hands are shown. Do I need any other file, as hhdb.mdb? Any help? Thank you.

To get the hands into PT3 you'll need to export them from PT2, which requires being able to see them in PT2.
To be able to export the hands from a PT2 database you will need the hhdb.mdb too - the ptrack.mdb does not include hand history text.
I'll move this to the PT2 forum where you'll get better help to see if you can recover this..

You need the hhdb.mdb file also, without it, you can't export the hands. If you install PT2, then (with PT2 closed) put the ptrack.mdb and hhdb.mdb files you were able to recover into the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder overwriting the files put there by the install.

Then use the Utilities > Export Hand Histories To File option to export the hands to text files which you can then use to import into your existing PT3 database.
