Ring game stats loading very slow...

Postby Joesss » Sun May 17, 2009 8:05 am

Hi

I just got a new power computer and have installed PT2 again and restored my sql database from old computer with approx. 780.000 hands. I have compressed and analysed, but that didn't help speeding up loading ring game stats which takes about 15 minutes!
On the old computer with much less power it took about 30 secs. and I don't get it?!

Any suggestions on how to speed it up?

Thank you!

Are you using the auto-rate on import option? If so, make sure it's setup to not auto-rate your own stats.

Yes that made no difference. Im also having problems when importing hh's - takes hours to import very few hands. I don't know what is wrong. On the old computer I had PT version 2.16, and have the new version now, but I guess that's not a problem?

Go to the Start menu and select Programs > PostgreSQL > pgAdmin III
Right-click on the red X at the top left of the window and select "connect"
enter your p/w when prompted.
Now, click on the + next to your database. Now navigate down to Schemas > Public > Tables - in the list of tables, find "game_players" and click on the + sign next to it. In the "constraints" section, how many are listed there? There should be one, game_players_idx_01. Now, click on the "indexes" section. How many are listed there? There should be 4, game_players_idx_02 through 05.

What version of PostgreSQL was installed on the old computer and what did you install on this one? Are they the same? If it's not an index issue then I don't know what could be causing it. Did you try doing a backup on the old computer again and restoring from that file?

On the old computer I had 8.2.x. I started with the latest 8.3.x on new comp. but couldn't get anything to work. So I deleted it again and installed the 8.2.x version. The backup is from the old computer, and I have it on my HD. Should I re-restore that one or what?

After I stopped auto-rate my self I don't have problems with the HH-import. But it still takes 12-20 minutes to load ring stats... which took about 1 min. on the old computer.

This could be because on the old computer you had a filter set on the Preferences tab of the stats window so that it wasn't trying to retrieve the entire database worth of hands every time you open the stats window. If you set a date filter for example, to have it only retrieve hands from a certain date to the present then it should open much faster. I am fairly confident in saying you would never have been able to retrieve the enter 700,000+ hands in the db on the old pc that fast unless you had a filter set.
