Phantom Cent: The Tourney Net Amount Error

Hi all -

I'm running 2.17.02a and I've come across the following problem.

1) I've played 400 $3.40 sit-n-gos. The total Buy-in + Fee + Ext column on the General Info. tab is showing 1,360.01 (not the correct 1,360.00), even though none of the tournament summaries downloaded from PokerStars have this odd $0.01 amount in them (I checked one by one for the last 50 SNGs, when the problem first occurred).

This error is causing a net amount of $381.95 (instead of the correct $381.96).

2) The problem also appears on the Tourney Notes tab in the Tournament Summary section. However, in the Tournament Detail section, the total adds up to $381.96. Somehow, the Tournament Detail section is skipping this phantom cent

3) The phantom cent is also missing from the Summary tab, Tournament Player Performance Summary section.

So basically, I have a $0.01 disconnect (which shouldn't be there) randomly showing up in half the PTH2 screens and not the other half. As you can tell, chasing $0.01 is ludicrous, but I hate it when poker tracker doesn't tie to my Poker Stars account reconciliation spreadsheet. So there it is.

The only thing I can think of is one of the tournaments has a strange # in the buy-in, fee or rebuy/addon fields and you won't notice it unless you actually click on the field on the File > Tournament Results - Manual Entry > PokerStars window at which case you see one of the fields might display as 3.40 but if you click on it the format changes to something like 3.39999999999 or something weird like that. If that's the case it might be a pretty monotonous process to try to track down the one (or more than one) that is causing the formatting issue.

That could be it. It looks like the fees are coming in as 0.40000001 instead of 0.40. But...

1) I type in "0.40" and try to click on another tourney (to see if PTH automatically recognizes that a change has been made), then Save it. When I try to go back, the value is right back to 0.40000001.

2) The underlying Pokerstars tourney history doesn't have this 0.40000001 amount.

3) Even if I try to manually type in a different number (e.g. $0.80), PTH somehow moves it to 0.80000001.

Personally I think it's really cool (since I think it's the first time I've ever seen the fabled computorial imprecision in action), but I was just wondering if there was a fix. I think there is: start playing tourmanets with larger buyins/fees =)

Another thought...couldn't I just change the field type in PostgreSQL to be "double precision" or something else instead of "real"? Or something to that effect?

You could try that just BACKUP THE DATABASE FIRST to be safe. Also, you could write an update query to change the numbers as well. It sounds like you may already know how to do this, if not, let me know and I'll give you a SQL statement to use.
