Super Slow

Postby Jules__Crazy » Tue Jun 02, 2026 11:19 am

Hi,

my PokerTracker 4 has recently become extremely slow, both during startup and while using it.

Sometimes it takes more than 5 minutes to fully open. Even after PT4 has started, certain actions can be extremely slow — for example, loading reports or adding a stat sometimes takes several minutes.

Once everything finally loads, it mostly works, but overall performance has become much worse recently.

I did add some downloadable HUDs and custom reports not too long ago, but I’m not sure if that is actually the cause, since I assume many people are using even more addons without issues.

I’m mainly trying to understand what could generally cause this kind of slowdown in PT4. Could it be related to database size, PostgreSQL, cache issues, report filters, HUD configurations, imported stats, or something else?

Has anyone experienced similar issues or knows what the most common causes are?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

That might be an issue with the database cache or a damaged/corrupt database. Security software may also be interfering. On rare occasions it might be a hardware issue. If you've added several premium (paid) HUDs from third parties then there is the potential to exceed the hard limit of columns in a PostgreSQL table (1,600) and in that case it wouldn't be possible to keep the database cache up to date. If you don't have a large database then go to 'Database -> Database Management'. Click the 'Housekeeping' button and run the following in this order:

1. Tune PostgreSQL (If this step fails you can skip to step #2)
2. Reindex
3. Cluster
4. Vacuum/Analyze

After the housekeeping is complete rebuild the database cache via 'Rebuild Cache -> Full Cache Rebuild'.

If that doesn't help turn on 'Enable Logging' in PokerTracker 4 via 'Configure -> Options' and then restart PokerTracker 4. Next reproduce this issue and then create a support bundle via the 'File -> Create Support Bundle' menu option in PokerTracker 4. When that file has been saved attach your support bundle to a Support Ticket where a technician can review your logs and follow up with you:
