seeing: unable to log into database (postgres). reason: connection to server on socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432" failed. no such file or directory is the server running locally and accepting connections on that socket? please help!

When you installed PokerTracker 4 did it offer to install PostgreSQL for you? If so did you notice if the PostgreSQL install completed successfully or not? Do you see PostgreSQL in your Applications folder?

1.  Confirm where your PostgreSQL is, probably here:

/Library/PostgreSQL/x

where "x" is the PostgreSQL version (e.g. 9.6, 10, 12)

2.  Open a terminal in "Utilities".  In the terminal window copy/paste this:

sudo rm /Library/PostgreSQL/x/data/postmaster.pid

Substitute the "x" in that command with the correct PostgreSQL version number.

You may be prompted for your administrator password when running that command and you may not see anything as you type it in.

You want to delete "postmaster.pid" so answer "y" if the command finds it.

3.  Next reboot, press/hold the "Alt/Option" key while starting PokerTracker 4 and see if is able to start now. If not please open a Support Ticket and attach your log file where a technician can follow up with you:

/Users/{Mac Login}/Library/Application Support/PokerTracker 4/PokerTracker4.log

Please proceed with step #3 from my previous reply and a technician can follow up with you.

You can try uninstalling PostgreSQL and manually installing/reinstalling PostgreSQL v16 - see this guide:
