HUD Crashes and Possible Corruption

Postby Herr_Someone » Sat May 10, 2014 5:33 pm

I'm using PT4 on both OSX and windows 7 via BootCamp, and on Windows everything works fine. I have been trying to configure my HUD and on OSX I'm getting players stats showing on different players. Just now, I have had a major HUD crash which has stuck on my screen:

Even a finder relaunch hasn't fixed it :?

When opening PT4 and going into my HUD profiles, it looks corrupted. It doesn't show my custom HUD, and shows a lot of blank spaces:

What can I do to fix it? I've been sitting here for an hour and half now. Thats 90 minutes lost that I'm not going to get back, and potentially more time lost to fix it which I don't have. I've been incredibly patient, but I'm having problem after problem with PT4. The amount of time I'm losing playing is starting to really get on my nerves now.

I'm not sure how that would have happened - we haven't had anything like that reported for a long time.
If you select any of the blank options does that load your Hud? If it does, use Options > Export to save it.
Otherwise I don't think that you'll be able to recover any Huds which aren't shown in that list, assuming that you also can't see them when using the Hud and changing profile via the PT-icon menu?
To reset the Hud profiles use the PT4 menu File > Open User Data Folder and then close PT4. In the window that opens go to the Data folder and drag layouts.pt4 to the trash. When you run PT4 again you will be able to import your Hud profile if you were able to export it, or export it from Windows.

To have the stats show by the correct players please follow the Preferred seating guide.

PT4 is not importing hands now. The directory is correct, however it doesn't register that there is an active table. This links in with another issue I've found where hands from months ago are randomly appearing in my processed folder - it isn't hands that haven't yet been processed. These are sessions that are re-appearing in my Processed folder. I also had yet another issue yesterday where even though PT4 recognised I was playing, and the HUD displayed hands (albeit with the errors noted previously), this hand history is now missing and did not get imported into PT4.

Just to note that why I didn't carry out any of the advice so far due to the non-importing of hands, I did disable memory grabber as that wasn't something that was enabled on a previous working configuration.

What is so wrong with my installation, especially as this was a clean install of everything about 2-3 weeks ago?

I'm going to do some more investigation before submitting a ticket as I've had some strange things happen with my Pokerstars client - I've been having preferences reset themselves (including changing my Hand History directory which caused the HUD not to pop up...). That missing hand has now appeared and what I think might have caused the HUD to crash was the hand history folder being changed.

If I need to raise a ticket I will, but I'd rather not waste your time if at all possible.

Could I ask though why I would need to activate preferred seating now, and I never have at any point within the last 3-4 years? Is that something to look into, or is it just one of those things?

The default setting for PokerStars preferred seating has changed - their default setting only auto centers you sometimes, and you need to have it either always or never auto centering you, and you need to have PT4 configured to match that setting.
