Unrealistic RFI % in SB — Need help getting accurate data in

Postby Slimshame » Wed Oct 08, 2025 5:16 am

Hey everyone,

I’ve been trying for a while to display a realistic RFI stat in my PokerTracker 4 HUD, but I can’t seem to get anything consistent or accurate. I’m mainly playing online MTTs, and I’m very familiar with how this stat should look based on years of experience and cross-checking with professional HUDs like Hand2Note.

For example, over a large sample, my SB RFI was around 27% when I used H2N, which is perfectly logical for my style and confirmed by several other regs.
But when I try to replicate the same stat in PT4 — using the “Opportunity to Raise First In” filter and every combination I can think of — it suddenly shows around 44%, which makes absolutely no sense.

I’ve checked the available options under “Preflop / Opportunities / Raise First In,” but PT4 doesn’t seem to have a precise equivalent or additional filter settings that narrow it correctly (for example excluding limpers or 3-bet opportunities).
I’ve also verified that I’m not using any conflicting filters or position mislabels.

So far I’ve tried:

The basic “Opportunity to Raise First In” definition

Creating custom stats using preflop actions and opportunities

Filtering by position and stack size to see if something was skewing the data

Nothing matches the expected values.

What I’m looking for is a way to replicate the “Raise First In” logic from Hand2Note inside PT4, so I can finally display a reliable RFI stat by position in my HUD.

Has anyone managed to get realistic RFI numbers in PT4 (especially in MTTs) or created a custom stat that matches H2N’s logic?
If yes, could you please share how you defined it or what filters you used?

Thanks a lot — any help from PT4 experts or MTT regs who’ve faced the same issue would be super appreciated.

I don't know anything about style and you haven't provided any evidence that demonstrates that the statistic in PokerTracker 4 is not accurate. As far as the numbers go 27% is lower than average and 44% higher than average based on the population I am looking at on a sample database. The tools are in PokerTracker 4 for you to verify that the data is correct.

1. There is a statistic in PokerTracker 4 called 'Raise First In'. This is used by default in many reports and in a report grouped by position it will show your SB RFI% (see below) - that doesn't need the use of filters at all.

2. If you want to use a filter you can filter for the opportunity to raise first in via 'Actions & Opportunities -> Preflop -> Preflop Opportunities -> First Action -> Opportunity To Open the Pot' (see below).

I don't have a list of H2N statistic names and their definitions but the definition of 'Raise First In' in PokerTracker 4 is this:

PokerTracker 4 wrote:Percentage of the time that a player opened the pot by raising, given that he had the chance to do so.

Formula: Number of Times Player Raised First in / Number of Times Player Could Raise First in

Now when the SB raises first in that would also be considered a steal and there is a statistic in PokerTracker 4 for that called 'Att To Steal - SB' which has the following definition:

PokerTracker 4 wrote:Percentage of the time that a player opened the pot by raising in the small blind.

Formula: Number of Times Player Attempted to Steal Blinds from the Small Blind / Number of Times Player Could Attempt to Steal Blinds from the Small Blind

Both of these statistics in a report will give the same result:

If I then filter for the following in a hand report:

(First Action Opportunity to Open the Pot) AND (Position of Active Player Position of Selected Exactly 9)

I get the same sample of hands returned (8,492):

When reviewing and replaying the hands in that report they are all hands where the player in the SB has the opportunity to raise first in.

If I then add an additional filter for actually raising first in I get 3,361 hands returned:

(14.96 KiB) Downloaded 843 times

Now the hands in the report have been filtered to only those in which the player did raise first in.

(3,361 / 8,492) x 100 = 39.58%.

The statistic and filter in PokerTracker 4 is accurate.
